US Open Schedule 2025

For two weeks late in August, the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens turns into the center of the world of tennis. The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the season, after the Australian, French and Wimbledon championships have passed. The tournament is played outdoors on hard courts and features a retractable roof at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Women play best-of-three-set matches, and men’s matchups are best-of-five with a first-to-10 tiebreaker at 6-all in the third set. The US Open is held each year in Flushing Meadows, New York.

The 2025 US Open starts Sunday Aug 24 and runs through Sept 7. Several changes are in store for this year’s tournament, including an earlier start date (the last three Grand Slams now begin on Monday). It’s also the first year that video reviews will be available on all 17 competition courts, unlike last summer when only eight had the technology. The US Open champion will earn $90 million this year, the highest purse in tennis history.

Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner, the 2024 champions, will be the top-seeded players this time around. But a deep American contingent, featuring the likes of 2024 runner-up Madison Keys, former champ Venus Williams and rising talents Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Learner Tien, will challenge them all. Also look for breakouts from Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, US qualifier Ben Shelton and rising French star Alexandre Michelsen.
